Very good authentic Thai food. Friendly staff and good prices. The fishcakes, papaya salad and coconut rice were excellent.

A friend recommended this restaurant and I thought we would try it out. The food was great, the price was very reasonable and the speed in which we received our food was astonishing. The chef was super efficient!
Will happily recommend to others.

Dined: Lunch, right at opening

I visited Blue Moon Thai in Tufnell Park with my mum for what we hoped would be a quiet and pleasant lunch. Unfortunately, the experience left us feeling more uncomfortable than welcomed.

From the outset, the service felt cold. The server didn’t smile, make eye contact, or offer much in the way of engagement. I had to make extra effort just for her to notice me when we were ready to order. I understand there may have been a language barrier, but the tone came across as abrupt rather than neutral. We’re both light eaters, and the portions were generous—which we appreciated—but we couldn’t finish our meal and asked to take the remainder home.

What made the experience more disappointing was that the server didn’t check in on the table at any point. I had to stand up and approach her at the till to request the bill. Even then, the interaction felt transactional, and we were charged a 10% service fee despite the absence of basic hospitality.

She also didn’t seem pleased when we asked for takeaway containers and a bag, which is a standard and reasonable request. The lack of warmth and attentiveness throughout the visit really affected the atmosphere of the meal.

The food itself was so-so, but service is a huge part of the dining experience—and sadly, this visit missed the mark. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as the restaurant has potential but the service culture needs attention.

I was in the mood for some Asian food, so I tried Thai green curry, Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai chicken, and egg fried rice. It was my first time at this spot near Tufnell Park station, and I have to say, every dish was amazing, definitely a 4.5 out of 5 for me. The service was quick too, which I really appreciated. I am already looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you!
